Children and education Essay Example for Free
Children and education Essay ?Childrenââ¬â¢s mind is considered as white sheets, so it is easy for us to write on them as we want. In fact, some experts believe that children should begin to learn foreign language at primary school. In my opinion, there are many advantages to learn a target language as a child. First of all, the most advantage is they can learn a great number of vocabularies. Take my brother an example. He began studying English when he was six years old. Therefore, he knows many thematic vocabularies. Having graduated from high school, he finds it easy to communicate with foreigners by a wide knowledge. Next, learning foreign language as child helps children to imitate rightly pronunciation of native languages. For example, my daughter in grade two learns English two days a week. She often listens to songs and stories by nativeââ¬â¢s voice. As a result, she can imitate their voice and rhythm to pronounce rightly. Last but not least, another advantage is they can remember the pattern sentences longer. They can practice some patterns by repetition method. In reality, ones are repeated so many times that they remember them deeply, and that helps them to reflect quickly in context communicate. In brief, with above-mentioned reasons, it is better for children to begin learn foreign language at primary school than at secondary school. They will achieve a wide, strong knowledge as well as their self- confident to enter a bright future. Learning a foreign language at primary school or secondary school is very necessary for children. However, some people think that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school. There are a lot of controversial opinions about this problem. In my opinion, I agree with this statement because of the following reasons. Firstly, learning a foreign language at primary school helps children develop their skills better. Nowadays, children of all primary shcools in the nation have to study the foreign language, mainly English. At primary school, children have focused on learning vocabularies, how to pronounceâ⬠¦At this age, the childrenââ¬â¢s brain is developing so it is very easy for them to learn the foreign language. Moreover, the children of primary school have a lot of time and conditions to learn the foreign language because they have less subjects at school. The chidren should begin learning the foreign language at primary school because it will help them to develope their skills including reading and speaking skill. If the children begin learning the foreign language at secondary school, they will face a lot of difficulties in their study because they do not have the basic knowledge of foreign language. At secondary school, the children have to spent more time on different subjects, therefore they do not have more time to learn the foreign language. Secondly, to begin learning the foreign language at primary school helps the children to pronounce more exactly. The program of teaching and learning the foreign language at primary school and secondary school is different. If the children begin learning the foreign language at secondary school, they will study more skills such as writing, speaking, reading, listening, grammar and new words. Hence, it is not good for children to begin learning the foreign language at secondary school. Unlike the secondary school, the children of primary school only learn the vocabularies, the way of pronunciation and simple sentences. Learning the foreign language at primary school will create many favorable chances for children to prepare firm knowlegde and this hepls them to learn the foreign language at secondary school better. In conclusion, to begin learning the foreign language at primary school is better than secondary school. The children should begin learning the foreign language at primary school because this is an important period that hepls them build basic knowlegde of foreign language.

Corruption of Culture Essay Example for Free
Corruption of Culture Essay In Yukio Mishimas Swaddling Clothes we see a great deal of symbolism portraying the corruption of the Japanese culture. The times are changing and with that change, culture is adapting to it. Some of the Japanese feel threatened and that the changes that are being made are corrupting their moral values. The story is told through Toshiko, a lonely and seemingly oppressed wife and mother. She shows how this corruption is leading to decay. The story depicts the corruption of Japanese culture by western modernization. Japanese culture is becoming more westernized, unhomely with its Western-style furniture (366). The air of the room being unhomely because some Japanese thought that Western-style was corrupt. Toshikos husband is accepting these changes, sitting there in his American-style suit, puffing at a cigarette (366). The city they live in is changing as well, dotted with bars and then by a theatre (368). The park that Toshiko visits had also changed, The paper lanterns that hung from wires between the trees had been put out; in their place electric light bulbsthat shone dully beneath the blossoms (369). The word dully being used to show that western-style is dull and dreary. Violence is one of the concepts Toshiko relates to western culture. Toshiko believes western style is violent, his frail body was wrapped in bloodstained newspapers (367), showing the degradation of moral values in this westernized society. When Toshikos husband is sitting there talking with his friends he jokes about the incident and stating I rescued our good rug (367), this showing that his mind is corrupt with the western culture because he did not care about the well being of the nurse and the blood did not faze him. The baby is a symbol of the violence in the western culture as well. The way the baby was born was out of wedlock, Even if that baby should grow up in ignorance of the secret of his birth, he can never become a respectable citizen (368). Toshiko worries that the baby who has been sinned against (368) may come in contact with her son one day and, savagely stab him with a knife (368). All because the baby was born outà of wedlock, due to Western modernization, Toshiko thinks of him as violent and evil. Western culture is not only se en as violent but as polluted as well. Western-style is also polluting their society. While walking in the park Toshiko notices that the people would automatically kick aside the empty bottles or crush the waste paper beneath their feet (369). Waste pollution not only being the kind of pollution polluting their society but moral pollution as well. Toshiko sees a homeless man and wonders was it one of those miserable drunks often to be seen sleeping in public places? (369). The homeless man in the park is a symbol of the baby that will grow up to be in crime and poverty, though what is most significant is the way that he is dressed, his khaki trousers had been slightly pulled up (370), this showing that he is westernized just like Toshikos husband. Toshiko is saddened by this westernized lifestyle. This story shows through many elements the degradation of moral values in the modern westernized changes that are taking place. Through the moral changes, the violence of the western culture, and the pollution we have seen that Toshiko believes that her society is corrupt. There are many symbols showing these changes; through the baby, Toshikos husband, and through the homeless. She continually contemplates the loss of their moral values and is saddened. Ultimately this story is trying to depict the corruption of Japanese culture by western modernization.

The Importance Of Computer Backup Systems
The Importance Of Computer Backup Systems This is used to recompress the files on a disk using the compression method specified. A disk can be recompressed using a single compression method or by using different methods for individual files and folders. Files and folders can also stay uncompressed. This will help save disk space. Disk cleanup: Computer space fills up fast, and being able to quickly make more space is important. Disk cleanup does just that. This is a tool that enables users to clear their disks of unnecessary files. It removes any unused and temporary files from ones computer to make space for new files and programs. Disk cleanup can take a couple seconds to a few hours to remove unused files from the computer. The time depends on how many files are being removed and the speed of the processor. Disk defragmenter: This is the process of resorting all the data on a hard drive so that it starts at the beginning of the disk and is ordered in a chronological nature. It is essential significance to maintaining a properly running computer. The function of a disk defragmenter is to rewrite the data on a hard disk so that all files are written from start to finish and not spread across the entire disk out of order. Defragmenting a hard drive reduces the amount of time it takes to access and read a file. A defragmentation procedure may take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours depending on the size and number of disks on a computer system. Drive Converter: (F) DriveSpace: This is a disk compression utility. This software compresses fate on the fly when the data is to be stored on the hard drive or floppy, and expands the data as it is read from the drive. It increases the amount of data the user could store on disks. However, DriveSpace makes the computer run more slowly, since decompression happens on the fly with every disk access. (G) Maintenance Wizard: This helps one get the best performance from the system. You can run Maintenance Wizard to make your programs run faster, check your hard disk for problems, and free hard disk space. When you start the maintenance wizard, you may choose to express or to use your own custom settings. (H) Net watcher: This is a utility that can be used to monitor the activities of network clients on a particular system. With Net Watcher, one can see who is connected to the system. What shares one is accessing, and what files they have open. One can also at once terminate a users access to the system, a share, or a file. (I) Resource Meter: Resource Meter software displays specific system-related information, mostly about how your available resources like memory space or disk space are currently in use. It is a tiny program that runs in the background and lets you know the amount of resources your system is using at a specified time. It displays as an icon in the System Tray and is color coded. (J) Scan Disk: This is a windows utility used to check the hard disk for errors and to correct problems that are found. These errors often occur when Windows locks up and must be restarted. (K) Scheduled Tasks: It is a component of Microsoft Windows that provides the capacity to schedule the launch of programs at pre-defined times or after specific time periods. It can be used to schedule tasks on the local or remote system to which one is connected. (L) System Monitor: It is a hardware or software based system used to monitor resources and performance in a computer system. These monitoring systems are often used to keep track of system resources or the amount of free RAM. They are also used to display items such as free space on one or more hard drives, the temperature of the CPU and other important components, networking information, and current rates of upload and download. Other likely displays may contain date and time, computer name, username, hard drive, and fan speeds. Question 3: The internet is computer based global information system. It is composed of many interconnected computer networks. The internet has brought a transformation in many aspects of life. Nowadays one can access the internet easily. The internet has developed to give many benefits to mankind. The access to information is one of the most important uses of the internet. Students can now have access to libraries around the world. Before, students had to spend hours in the libraries, but now at the touch of a button, students have a huge amount of information in front of them. Communication is an area where the internet is used for various reasons as it is low cost, effortless and fast. Communication takes place in the forms of emails, chats, video chats and video conferences. E-mail is an important communications service available on the Internet. Email has speeded up business communication on all levels. Usually, it takes only a few seconds for an e-mail to arrive at its destination. This is a particularly effective way to communicate with a group because you can broadcast a message or document to everyone in the group at once. Internet-telephony is another common communications service made possible by the creation of the internet. Internet telephony software essentially provides free telephone calls anywhere in the world One of the fastest- growing forms of internet communication is instant messaging, or also known as IM. An IM communications service enables you to create a private chat room with another individual in order to communicate in real-time over the internet. One of the reasons that IM has become so popular is because, unlike e-mails, if a person wants to reach another individual and they are come online, a message appears instantly in a window on their screen. IM is growing in popularity in the business world. Employees of a company can have instant access to managers and co-workers in different offices and can reduce the need to place phone calls when information is required immediately. IM can save time for employees and can reduce the amount of money a business spends on communication. Interviews can even be conducted online through video conferencing giving the same effects as real life interviews. Video conferencing is a conference between two or more participants at different sites by using computer networks to transmit audio and video data. Each participant has a video camera, microphone and speakers connected on his or her computer. As they speak, their voices are delivered to each other and whatever images appear in from of the video camera appear in a window in the other participants monitor. Advertising on the World Wide Web is a form of support for expressed purpose of delivering marketing messages to attract customers. It is expected to be the most effective form of advertising. Companies can reach a wide audience for a small fraction of traditional advertising budgets. This allows customers to research and purchase products and services at their own convenience. Social Impact The internet has enabled completely new forms of social interaction, activities, and organizing thanks to its basic features. Social networking websites such as Facebook, Myspace, and Friendster have created new ways to socialize and interact. These sites allow users to add information to pages, to add pictures, common interests and to connect with others. There are also sites that allow people to view videos and photographs. An example of this is YouTube. The internet also provides an area of leisure activity such as multiplayer gaming. This creates communities where people of all ages and origins take pleasure in the world of multiplayer games. Many people also use the Internet to access and download music, movies and other things for their enjoyment. In addition, the World Wide Web is used by many people to access news, to check the weather and sports reports, and to plan and book vacations. Selling The internet can also be used to sell products. A major advantage of selling via internet is the ability to reach anyone. You can reach customers that speak different languages. This is possible due to the fact that the language carrier is removed and translation software is used. When using the internet to sell products or services, one can operate from any computer in the world. Selling without the internet limits one to operate only from a fixed place. When selling via internet, one may take advantage of interactive and multimedia channels. These allow for immediate response time. One also has the option to remain anonymous which allows for privacy which would not normally have outside the internet. Having a product on sale to the public 24/7 is an incredible benefit of the internet. Center of learning With the internet you can learn to do anything or perfect a skill you already have. There are many websites where you can see an instructional video or read step by step on how to do whatever it is you would like. http://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/Internet/2005/internet_communications.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_advertising http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet#Modern_uses http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Advantage-of-Selling-via-Internetid=503987 Question 4: (A) Pipelining is a particularly effective way of organizing parallel activity in a computer system. The basic idea is very simple. A set of data processing elements connected in series, so that the output of one element is the input of the next one. The elements of a pipeline are often performed in parallel or in time-sliced fashion. It is divided in stages. Each stage completes a part of an instruction in parallel. The stages are connected to form a pipe. Instructions enter one end of the pipe, progress through the stages, and exit at the other end. http://www.cs.iastate.edu/~prabhu/Tutorial/PIPELINE/pipe_title.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pipeline_(computing) (B) The system clock synchronizes the tasks in a computer, like loading date before manipulating it. The system clock is a circuit that sends out a continuous stream of precise high and low pulses that are all exactly the same length. Every modern PC has multiple system clocks. Each of these vibrates at a specific frequency, normally measured in MHz http://library.thinkquest.org/3114/clock.html (c) Parallel processing is the ability to carry out multiple operations or tasks simultaneously. Parallel processing makes programs run faster because there are more engines running it. With the help of parallel processing, a number of computers can be performed at once at a shorter rate. Question 2: Windows 98 is a widely-installed product in Microsofts evolution of the Windows operating system for personal computers. It has many features that has enhanced its growth. Multiple Monitors: Windows 98 now supports multiple monitors. Multiple monitors is a device for typical home and business use, but is an vital requirement for professional content creation. It is common to have all the software such as page layout, pre-press, illustration, animation and other graphics work on one screen and the artwork in progress on a screen by itself. It is frequent to have music and video on one complete monitor for each source and destination in use. Web integration: The windows 98 includes all of the improvements from windows desktop update, an internet explorer 4 components, desk bands, channels, ability to minimize foreground windows, single click launching, back and forward navigation buttons, favourites, and address bar in windows explorer. With active desktop, users can view and access desktop objects online as well as local files and applications. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-parallel-processing.htm http://www.ehow.com/facts_5022394_definition-disk-defragmenter.html#ixzz12DCrJMVS http://www.ehow.com/facts_5763189_definition-disk-cleanup_.html Read more: What Is the Definition of Disk Cleanup? | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/facts_5763189_definition-disk-cleanup_.html#ixzz12DAeD6oh Read more: What Is the Definition of Disk Cleanup? | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/facts_5763189_definition-disk-cleanup_.html#ixzz12DAHJFjy Read more: What Is the Definition of Disk Cleanup? | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/facts_5763189_definition-disk-cleanup_.html#ixzz12D9VQkGm

Manliness, Hostility, and Aggression in A View From the Bridge Essay
Manliness, Hostility, and Aggression in A View From the Bridge Arthur Millerââ¬â¢s ââ¬ËA View from the Bridgeââ¬â¢ represents the ideas of manliness and how the perception of certain individuals (Eddie) affects the lives of their fellow friends and family. The play is based around the views of the playââ¬â¢s protagonist, Eddie. His analysis of the male personality leads to conflict when other males, in this case Rodolpho, do not conform to his ideas of manliness. Hostility, aggression and masculinity are the main themes which influence the mood of the play and the way they are associated with each other allow an increase in tension in the minds of the reader. Eddie is the playââ¬â¢s main character who has very distinct views on what a man should be like. He feels it is necessary for a man to be aggressive and to use violence in order to state his authority and power. This is evident when he asks Catherine ââ¬Å"Whatââ¬â¢s the high heels for, Garbo?â⬠Eddie asks this in a very sarcastic manor, however, he is fully aware that he wants things his own way. Eddie also considers bravery and the reputation of the male to be vital in a manââ¬â¢s personality. This is shown by the way he battles Marco nearer the end of the play, not to make friends but to restore his reputation. The language in which Arthur Miller employs when Eddie is speaking tends to be fairly provocative for the person he is addressing, particularly with the way he has primarily been shown to ask or talk to other people in a challenging manner. This is evident when Eddie refers to Rodolpho as ââ¬Å"fruitâ⬠; ââ¬Å"aint rightâ⬠and ââ¬Å"no goodâ⬠. These quotes show no manners what so ever and portray a very negative approach indicating confrontation to the reader. However the quote ââ¬Å"sees the... ...is carefree personality shows us how life should be lived. Arthur Millerââ¬â¢s views on masculinity are introduced into the character of Alfieri, through this character he reveals how he feels ââ¬Å"it is better to settle for half.â⬠This means settling for what is available to you having worked out a compromise. With his perception on manliness he includes Eddie, Marco and Rodolpho. These three characters portray Millerââ¬â¢s views on masculinity on three different levels, showing that Marco being in between Eddie and Rodolpho is the real man as he enforces violence when need be and also being in touch with his feminine side shown by his family values. Miller has Eddie killed by Marco at the end; this is a metaphor and a sign of the real man winning in his eyes and believes that living the life of Eddie will not allow you to achieve everything you ever want in life.

Morrisons Bluest Eye Essay: Dying to Fit In -- Toni Morrison The Blu
The Bluest Eye: Dying to Fit In Claudia MacTeer in Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye looks longingly upon society from the outside. Growing up the youngest in the family as well as in a racial minority leaves Claudia feeling excluded and left out. She desires a place within the group society has formed without her. She desires to fit in and be accepted. Claudia desperately wants to experience life to the fullest. She does not want to miss out on any event. Claudia's curiosity is often her conscious motivation to get involved, but the reasons that she acts the way she does go deeper than that. Her personality and character traits make fitting in unfortunately hard to accomplish. Claudia has a strong desire to be included, but her different opinions about life unfortunately create difficulties for her fitting into society. She sees the world from a very different perspective than others. From very early on, Claudia's desires differ from the majority's opinion. She desires to have emotions; society, though, desires possessions. Furthermore, Claudia is physically revolted by what seems to be the epitome of beauty in society's eyes. She feels that she is the only one who feels that little white baby dolls with yellow hair and blue eyes are not beautiful. In a bold attempt to destroy the common perception of beauty, Claudia mangles the dolls she receives, "to see of what it was made, to discover the dearness, to find the beauty, the desirability that had escaped me, but apparently only me" (20). She desires to be included in the unity of society. However, Claudia wants to be included on her own terms. She does not want to limit or conform her beliefs to fit what s ociety wants her ... ...dia's position on the outside of everything forces her into a position of greater strength. Although hurt, the observations she makes mold her into being able to handle difficulties more easily. The loss of innocence which Claudia faces unintentionally is vital to the role she plays in society and in her life. Her thoughts hold a more realistic view of life and human behavior. She sees the pains and sorrows that life truly is constructed of. Claudia feels that she has missed out on so many opportunities and is not included the way others are. Her strong character generates a feeling of both isolation and separation, but, in reality, she tastes life more closely than most people are able to in a lifetime. Although Claudia's passion to be included is unrequited, she is filled with the strength, character, and pain that make her a more knowledgeable and resilient person.

The Colour Purple and The Yellow Wallpaper -- Goodman L. Approaching L
For Walker the use of language is to do with an expression of self in opposition to gender oppression, of presenting self in opposition to a language which is not your own. Explain how this statement informs your reading of The Colour Purple (TCP), and The Yellow Wallpaper (TYW). In TCP, written in first person narrative, Walker uses the epistolary style of writing, giving authority to the voice of Celie and enabling the reader to accept her as having real presence and experience. In her opening letter to God, it is obvious she has no self-confidence, crossing herself out with a line through ââ¬ËI amââ¬â¢ (p.3 TCP). Because her mother is so ill, Celie becomes a sexual commodity for her Pa, epitomising a male dominated society, where women accepted patriarchy. This epistolary style of writing was popular in the eighteenth century novel sentiment, morally edifying the reader, with authority being given to the protagonist, in this case, Celie. ââ¬ËCelie writes to God, for lack of any living person with whom to share her troublesââ¬â¢ (p.155 Literature and Gender (LG). She is not able to defend herself due to her multiple jeopardy, of being a woman, being black and being uneducated. Celie is a woman who, through being raped and beaten by her ââ¬ËPaââ¬â¢, is ââ¬Ëtaught to fear men and devalue herselfââ¬â¢ (p.55 LG). As her letters progress, she grows in confidence within and about her own language. In an early letter to God, written when her Pa stopped her going to school after he got her pregnant the first time and her younger sister continued to go, shows how she wanted to be educated, ââ¬ËI feel bad sometime Nettie done pass me in learninââ¬â¢ (p.12 TCP). Later on, she meets Shug Avery, her husbandââ¬â¢s mistress, who helps her find conf... ...aper and uses it to ââ¬Ëliberateââ¬â¢ herself from the normal domestic role expected of her, and from the patronising husbandââ¬â¢s language, such as ââ¬ËWhat is it little girl?ââ¬â¢ (p.353 TYW). Through her hysteria, she interprets the patterns on the wallpaper with a female language which is deliberately illogical, Emotional, non-linear, intuitive, as opposed to rational and logical. She writes, ââ¬ËThere is a recurrent spot where the pattern lolls like a broken neck and two bulbous eyes stare at you upside downââ¬â¢ (p.351 LG). Both women are using their own language against male authority. Bibliography Goodman L. Approaching Literature. Literature and Gender. Walker A. (1983) The Colour Purple. I Will Survive Essay
Since I was young I was told not to ever judge a book by its cover, up until a few weeks ago I believed this was complete bull but a series of uncanny events insisted on changing my mind. This chain of unforeseeable circumstanced began a few weeks ago where . . . The sounds of keyboards was almost deafening, the constant click blurred into a humming drone which one could debatably compare to the fog horn of a light house warning helpless ships away from there watery grave. I stare a little dazed but unfazed by the bright light of the computer screen, flashing uncountable numbers and words which Iââ¬â¢m supposes to make some kind of sense of if I am to continue with this curse most people call being an accountant. I feel some what contained in this shit tip excuse of a cubical, but to be honest the only thing caging me is the confines of my on reality. Closing my eyes I open them to this dark fantasy of a world plagued with zombies which are swiftly breaking down and tearing apart the countries of the world. But then a unexpected hero named Lorry strives to find a cure and against all odds saves the human race from absolute extinction. ââ¬Å"Lawrence order these files and crunch these number by the end of the day or your fired! â⬠Just so where clear my names Lawrence but my friends call my Lorry, okay no one calls me Lorry, I donââ¬â¢t have any friends, or family for that matter. I live alone in this crumby apartment building in room 147. To be fair I get it on good rent but I think that because someone got murdered here. I try to be optimistic about it an say its just a rumour but between you and me the smell of death still lingers. You could say Iââ¬â¢m just your usual nerdy 19 year old boy who loves his movies and video games and especially zombies. I mean zombies and I go together like peanut butter and jelly like a hero and his side kick, I love zombies. I often wish for a world in strife due to an out break of zombies where I save the world and get the girl, okay I may have prayed to god once or twice for that. Itââ¬â¢s a little funny when you wish for something and at the time it sounds like such a good idea. Lawrence order these files and crunch these number by the end of the day or your fired! â⬠said the floor manager with a high pitch squeal piercing the flow of my train of thought. ââ¬Å"Righteo will doâ⬠I said back with a smile as fake as fairy tales. I began to digress as soon as the managers eyes were off my back, surfing websites until something very captivating caught my eye. A breaking news bulletin streaming live showed footage which looked like the street in front of the building, I mean facade looks identical but that wasnââ¬â¢t the most alarming part. Apparently they were reporting an incident about a man who tackled another individual to the ground and started to devour another man living body and I quote ââ¬Å"tearing flesh from bone with nothing but his teeth. â⬠Thatââ¬â¢s when my semi attractive but still way out of my league co-worker Jazz leaned over, ââ¬Å"ahhh your always looking at zombies you freak. â⬠All though Jazz was a complete mess and frankly a female dog I had an odd some what mercurial attraction to her. I mean Iââ¬â¢m not one of those superficial shallow guys . . . Okay Iââ¬â¢m tend to take what I can get. As these thoughts raced through my mind at million miles an hour suddenly it hit me ââ¬Å"Zombies! The people on the news their zombiesâ⬠I nervously said as my voice broke multiple times. ââ¬Å"what? I was jokingâ⬠Jazz naively replied. ââ¬Å"Are you even watching what I am watching? We have to get out of here! â⬠It was at that moment the sound of shattering glass filled the room followed quickly by melody of foot steps thunderously increasing in speed and sound, mirroring my heart almost beating out of my chest. I watched as this man who looked drunk, uncontrollably sprint towards Jazz, teeth gnashing finger nails gashing at thin air. I could see the blood lust in his eyes. Now it was like time stood still, screams seemed to become silent but my other sense seemed to heighten. I noticed a foul stench so thick in the air you could cut it with a butter knife. Through the chaos and the haze, something deep down with in began to stir. A hero was being born. With out hesitation or mare thought I pulled the pen from my shirt pocket bounded over the desk. I held my pen like a blade an with all my strength I trusted pen into the temple of the crazed man right before Jazzââ¬â¢s eyes.
